Fugitive scooped up by task force

TAHLEQUAH — U.S. marshals and members of the District 27 Drug Task Force captured a Kansas state fugitive Wednesday in the Moodys area.

Lori Ann Abbott, 46, is wanted on a $300,000 bond out of Wichita, Kan., for kidnapping and aggravated assault charges.

She has been considered one of the most-wanted fugitives out of Sedgwick County, Kan., according to authorities in that area.

Cherokee County Undersheriff Jason Chennault said deputies received a tip that Abbott was hiding out in the Moodys area in Cherokee County.

Marshals and agents with the DTF found Abbott inside a trailer in a wooded area Wednesday.

“It was fairly concealed in the woods,” said Chennault.

Abbott was arrested without issue and transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center, from which she will now await extradition.

Poll

Where do you think bicycle trails are most needed in Cherokee County?

In the downtown corridor.
Not downtown, because it would be too congested, but on peripheral streets, like Bluff, Downing and College, and Muskogee but not downtown.
On the rural highways mainly in recreational areas, like Highways 10 and 82.
Only in special areas, like parks.
I do not think Cherokee County needs any (or more) bike trails.
