Goodsell eyed for Florida position

TAHLEQUAH —

Tahlequah Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Shannon Goodsell is again a candidate for a similar position at another school district, this time in Florida, according to an online news report.
KeysNet.com reported Saturday Goodsell is one of 16 applicants being considered for a job at Monroe County School District in Florida. The district’s list was recently narrowed to 16 from 56, and a 22-member search committee is set to narrow the list even further when it meets Monday. Among the candidates is the district’s current superintendent, who was appointed by the state’s governor.
Five to eight semifinalists will be selected from the group of 16, and they will be recommended for interviews with the district’s school board, according to the news website.
The site also reports the start date for the job will be Aug. 1, with a salary of $125,000 to $150,000. It is also reportedly the first time the district will hire a superintendent rather than have one elected.
Goodsell earlier this year was named a top finalist at a district in Durango, Colo., but he later withdrew his name from the running, and said the move wouldn’t have fit for his family.
