TAHLEQUAH —
A Tahlequah man reported as missing earlier this month was found safe this week, authorities said Tuesday.
Nathaniel Lewis had been living in the Grand View area and hadn’t been seen at work in several days. Lewis’ mother contacted the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office after a repairman arrived at Lewis home this month to fix an air conditioner, and found open doors. Lewis was not home, but his cell phone had been left behind.
Undersheriff Jason Chennault said Lewis was found at a local hotel. He provided authorities with no reason for staying there, nor did he explain why he left in the manner he did or why he hadn’t contacted his family.
