Police continue search for missing local man

TAHLEQUAH — Police continue to seek information in the disappearance of a Cherokee County man.

Nathaniel James Lewis, 33, stands about 6 feet, 2 inches tall and weighs approximately 200 pounds. He has brown hair and blue eyes.

Cherokee County Undersheriff Jason Chennault on Friday said authorities had garnered no new information from the public, but had obtained a new photo of Lewis from his driver’s license.

Chennault said authorities also learned the tag number to Lewis’ brown 2005 Ford F150 truck, which wasn’t known when he was first reported missing. The trucks’ tag number is 428GLS.

Lewis’ mother last week said her son had been living with his grandmother at a residence in the Grand View area, until the grandmother moved to Florida July 16.

When a repairman arrived at Lewis’ residence July 16 to fix a broken air conditioner, he found the doors to the home open, and no sign of Lewis. Lewis’ truck was also gone, and his cell phone was inside the home.

Lewis hadn’t shown up to work for several days, his mother told authorities last week.

Anyone with information about Lewis’ location is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at (918) 456-2583.
