TAHLEQUAH —
A Cookson man entered a guilty plea to federal firearms charges Wednesday.
John Hardy Bryant, 38, pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition. Charges were a result of an investigation by the Tahlequah Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Bryant was indicted last month for allegedly possessing a 22-caliber rifle and short-caliber ammunition in August.
Sentencing for Bryant will be scheduled following completion of a pre-sentence report, ordered by Magistrate Judge Kimberly E. West.
Bryant could face not more than 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
