The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation on Wednesday announced the renewal of up to a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the two men who shot an elderly Wagoner man and stole his weapons on Thanksgiving day in 2011.
On Nov. 24, 2011, the Wagoner County Sheriff’s Office requested the OSBI’s assistance with the shooting and “attempted murder” of 74-year-old Kenneth Payne.
That day, at about 7:30 a.m., Payne was at the Fort Gibson Wildlife Management Area shooting range to sight in several of his guns. The OSBI says someone shot him multiple times and left him for dead. Payne was able to get to a phone and call family for help.
At least four guns were taken from Payne, along with a gun caddy. One firearm is described as a rare Mitchell Black Lightning 22-magnum rifle.
OSBI forensic artist Harvey Pratt met with Payne to draw sketches of the two suspects.
One is described as a possibly Hispanic man in his late 50s with a light complexion. He was about 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighed somewhere around 160-165 pounds.
The second suspect had dark, curly hair that extended to the back of his shirt collar. He was also about 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighed around 160 pounds. He was described as being in his mid- to late 30s.
