STILWELL —
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation and Adair County Sheriff’s Office is asking for help in identifying the victim of an apparent homicide.
According to OSBI Public Information Officer Jessica Brown, the pastor of Pleasant Valley Holiness Church in Adair County drove to the church near South County Road 6920 and State Highway 100 late Tuesday afternoon.
Brown said the pastor discovered the body of an adult man in the parking lot, which is about 25 yards from the road.
Brown said the unidentified man suffered trauma to the head, which authorities believe may have been inflicted early Tuesday morning. Officers in Cherokee and Adair counties checked missing person reports in search of anyone who might have features similar to that of the body, but no matches surfaced during the search.
OSBI latent-print analysts were going to roll prints from the body Wednesday and submit them to the state’s Automated Fingerprint Identification System for a possible match. The state medical examiner’s office will perform an autopsy to determine a cause and manner of death.
The OSBI is asking anyone with information about the case to call (800) 522-8017.
