Attack on EMT, cop lands man in trouble

TAHLEQUAH —

Multiple charges have been filed against a rural Stilwell man in Cherokee County District Court.

David Allen Ketcher, 49, faces three felony counts and a misdemeanor, stemming from a Feb. 24 incident in which he is accused of attacking an emergency medical technician.

Ketcher pleaded not guilty Tuesday afternoon to the charges and was placed on Special District Judge Holli Wells’ March 22 docket.

Ketcher is charged with assault and battery on an EMT, attempted assault on an EMT, assault on a police officer and DUI. His bond was set at $15,000.

Prosecutors allege Ketcher attempted to bite Bobbie Suarez, an EMT. He kicked Suarez and tried to kick Tahlequah Police Sgt. Tyler Trammel.

The assaults on the EMT carry possible penalties of up to two years and/or fines of $1,000. The attempted assault on Trammel carries a possible six-month jail sentence and/or a fine of up to $500. The DUI count is punishable by up to a year in jail and/or a fine of up to $1,000.

Assistant District Attorney David Pierce is prosecuting the case.
