Kansas man hurt in accident
STILWELL – A Louisburg, Kan., man was admitted to a Fayetteville, Ark., hospital in stable condition Saturday after striking a deer on his motorcycle.
Randy William Cantrell, 32, suffered trunk internal, external, arm and leg injuries. He was admitted to Washington Regional Medical Center.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports state Cantrell was westbound on U.S. 62, 7.2 miles west of Westville, at nearly 5 p.m.when a deer ran out in front of the vehicle. Cantrell, who was wearing a helmet, struck the deer.
‘Walk This Weigh,’ movies set
Cherokee County Health Department and Tahlequah Main Street Association present Walk this Way in Norris Park, Aug. 11 at 5:30 p.m.
The event will feature a walk from Norris Park to a pool party at Sequoyah Park Pool at 6:15 to 7:30 p.m. Young Professionals group sand volleyball will take place at the Northeastern State University Fitness Center, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. A Movies in the Park dance will then be featured in Norris Park, showing a classic movie about “Summer Lovin’” starting at 7:30 p.m.
Masons hosting fundraiser
The Masonic Lodge will be hosting an all-you-can-eat breakfast Saturday, Aug. 15, from 7-11 a.m. at the Masonic Lodge, on the corner of College and Choctaw.
The cost is $4 per person and proceeds will benefit Safe Kids Chapter of Cherokee County to help purchase car seats for WIC/Sooner Care eligible families.
