TAHLEQUAH —
The recent arrest of a Tahlequah woman led police to the discovery of stolen tools in a vehicle.
Susan R. Scroggins, 41, was booked for knowingly concealing stolen property and for an outstanding warrant, according to police.
Tahlequah Officer David Craig stopped Scroggins in a 1998 Chevrolet Blazer near Shawnee and Water.
Scroggins was initially arrested for an outstanding warrant and for driving while suspended, and her vehicle was impounded for a lack of insurance, according to an affidavit filed with the case. During an inventory of the vehicle, police said they found a black bag containing several power tools, including two circular saws, a reciprocating saw, a drill, and a flash light.
Tahlequah Patrolman Anthony Dotson conducted the inventory and said he noticed one of the items was marked “UKB Casino,” and others were marked with initials. He also discovered a pair of large bolt-cutters and a computer monitor.
United Keetoowah Band Lighthorse Officer Dustin Davis responded and identified the power tools as belonging to the tribe. The following day, a UKB employee contacted police and said an intruder had broken into the storage unit where the tools were stored.
Scroggins has not been formally charged this time, but she has been arrested at least twice this year for similar accusations. In August, she was booked after allegedly stealing clothes and electronics from her neighbors and held on potential charges of second-degree burglary and knowingly concealing stolen property. Court records show she has not been formally charged in that case, either.
Scroggins was charged with felony counts of second-degree burglary and knowingly concealing stolen property in July after police said the victim in the case saw Scroggins and another woman inside her vehicle, taking her belongings out.
She was given a $3,500 bond and has pleaded not guilty to those charges.
