Spitter gets plea deal

TAHLEQUAH — A Tahlequah man charged with a felony in Cherokee County District Court received a reduced charged as part of a plea agreement last week.

Russell Gene Evan, 17, was accused of being a prisoner who placed bodily fluids on a government employee.

Court records show Evan put his saliva on Tahlequah Police Sgt. Jason Girdner on Oct. 12, and also resisted Girdner, cussed at him, and continued to head-butt the fiberglass cage in a police car.

Evan pleaded guilty and received a two-year deferred sentence to a misdemeanor charge, court records show. He was also ordered to have supervision from the District Attorney’s Office and to pay other costs.
