Pair of teens injured in crash Wendesday

STONE BLUFF — Two teenagers were injured Wednesday night in a single-car crash near Stone Bluff in Wagoner County.

Steffani Layton, 16, and Micaela Castro, 14, were admitted to Tulsa hospitals.

Layton was admitted to St. Francis Hospital with head and trunk internal injuries.

Castro was admitted St. John’s Hospital with head, trunk external, trunk internal, arm and leg injuries.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports state Layton, the driver of a 1999 Ford Taurus, is in stable condition.

Castro is in critical condition.

Reports state the car was eastbound on a county road when it ran off the road to the right, overcorrected and hit a tree.

Castro was ejected 30 feet from the vehicle. She was not wearing a seat belt.

Reports state it is unknown whether Layton was wearing a seat belt. She was pinned for 10 minutes.

The crash was reported at 5:58 p.m., and investigated by OHP Trooper Todd Metzger, who was assisted by OHP Troopers David Medlin and Steve Hash.
