Pair accused in robbery bound for trial

TAHLEQUAH — Two men accused of using a pistol to rob a woman in August were bound over for trial in Cherokee County District Court last week.

Michael Maurice Gaddis, 35, of Okmulgee, and Thomas Benjamin Owens, 25, of Glenpool, were in court for their preliminary hearing, where a judge found probable cause for a trial.

Gaddis is facing charges of robbery with a weapon, first-degree burglary, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, domestic abuse-assault and battery, and violation of a protective order.

Owens is charged with robbery with a weapon and first-degree burglary.

Prosecutors allege the two broke into the home of Gaddis’ ex-girlfriend while the woman was home, then used a pistol to threaten her. Prosecutors allege the two stole the woman’s phone, and say Gaddis used the pistol to strike the victim in the head several times. He also allegedly hit her in the face with his closed fist multiple times.

Both were given $30,000 bonds after their arrests, and both pleaded not guilty to the charges. Gaddis is due back in court on Jan. 3, 2013, while Owens is set to appear again on Feb. 7, 2013.

What do you think of Sen. McCain's proposal to allow cable TV channels to be sold a la carte (individually, rather than in bundles with a lot of channels no one wants)? Bear in mind some less popular channels could go by the wayside with no bundling support, and that while overall packages should theoretically decrease in cost, individual channels might cost more.
