TAHLEQUAH —
A Tahlequah man charged with manufacturing methamphetamine and second-degree arson pleaded guilty Wednesday and received a 30-year sentence.
Arthur J. Adney will spend 21 years in state prison, followed by nine years of probation, according to Assistant District Attorney B.J. Baker.
“He’s responsible for a lot of methamphetamine that was on the streets of Tahlequah, and now he won’t be on the streets of the city for some time,” said Baker.
Adney fled from authorities in July when a shed caught fire behind a house in Tahlequah. Investigators said Adney was manufacturing meth inside the shed, which led to the fire.
Authorities then began their search for 48-year-old Adney, and he was eventually captured at a Park Hill home, where investigators say they discovered more meth labs.
Several other people were arrested during Adney’s capture, including Emily M. Bright, 25, who allegedly fled with Adney following the shed fire in July.
Bright was captured during the first incident and charged.
After her arrest in Park Hill, she allegedly told investigators Adney was cooking meth and she was using money made from the meth to pay her bail bondsman.
Bright was released from jail in November so she could seek treatment at Chi Hullo Li in Talihina. A judge ordered Bright to report to Cherokee County Detention Center “immediately” if she leaves the facility.
