Women charged with embezzlement



Two Cherokee County women have been charged with embezzling funds from a local business.

Prosecutors have charged Stevi Rae Hodge and Shedaizha Hodge, both 20, with embezzling $1,000 from Oklahoma Station, south of Tahlequah on State Highway 82.

Shedaizah allegedly committed the offense Aug. 27. Stevi allegedly embezzled the same amount between Aug. 1, 2008, and July 31, 2009. Both women are charged with felony offenses and are scheduled to be arraigned charges Feb. 16.

Court records show Shedaizah has posted a $15,000 bond. There is no record showing Stevi has posted a bond in the case.

Their next court appearance will be set at the arraignment next week. Representatives of Oklahoma Station are listed as state witnesses against the women. Embezzlement is punishable by imprisonment for up to five years and/or a fine of up to $5,000 and restitution.
