Local woman indicted for embezzlement

MUSKOGEE– A Tahlequah woman has been indicted by a federal grand jury meeting this month in Muskogee.

Gloria Ann Case, 48, was charged with embezzlement and theft from an Indian tribal organization. U.S. Attorney Sheldon Sperling said the indictment alleges that, between March 2005 and May 2008, she embezzled more than $1,000 belonging to the Cherokee Nation.

Case was employed by the tribe at the time of the alleged theft. The charges stemmed from an investigation by the Cherokee Nation Marshal Service.

The crime carries a possible sentence of five years in prison and/or up to $250,000 in fines.
