Officers discover meth precursors

TAHLEQUAH — Investigators arrested a Hulbert man Tuesday after finding precursors to a one-pot methamphetamine lab near Lost City Road.

Kevin M. Glenn, 32, was booked for endeavoring to manufacture methamphetamine and is also expected to face charges of possession of meth and possession of a loaded firearm during commission of a felony.

Cherokee County Sheriff’s Investigator Justin Hackworth said au-thorities re-ceived several anonymous tips that illegal drug activity was occurring at a home north of Hulbert. Agents decided to visit the home and said a man ran from a shed into the house when they arrived.

Investigators said they tried to get the man to answer the door when they knocked several times and announced their presence, but Glenn never responded. Authorities then went to the shed to see if other people were present, and noticed several precursors of a meth lab, along with a burn pile near the building, Hackworth said.

Authorities secured a warrant and spotted a one-pot meth lab inside the shed, Hackworth said. Items found included a plastic bottle with a two-layer liquid; a glass pipe containing a white, powdery residue; coffee filters; a plastic tube with a white, powdery residue; an electric hot plate; a propane torch; and tin foil containing a burnt residue.

Outside of the shed, among the burn-pile debris, were empty “blister packs” marked as pseudoephedrine; two empty metal cans marked as Drano; and an empty metal can labeled as Coleman fuel.

A Winchester .22-caliber rifle was found inside a vehicle, investigators said, and a loaded pump shotgun and a Ruger 243 rifle were found in the living room of the home.
