Three county inmates denied early release

TAHLEQUAH — Three Cherokee County inmates were denied parole last week during a meeting of the Pardon and Parole Board.

Rodney Hiatt, Jack Neugin and Tommy Louis Taylor are tentatively set for release within the next year.

Hiatt is serving a term for assault and battery with a deadly weapon and first-degree burglary. The Department of Corrections website shows his release is projected for March 2011.

Neugin is being held for bringing contraband into a penal institution. He is due release in December, the DOC site shows.

Taylor is due release in January. Records show he’s being held on counts of drug and firearm possession, along with false personation.

Jeremy Ramirez was denied parole on a count of feloniously pointing a firearm filed in Adair County. He is set for release in May 2013.

Cornelius James Artis is set for release in December. He was denied release this month on a Sequoyah County assault and battery with a dangerous weapon count.

Two inmates were released to the street: Cody Vann, who was serving a sentence on a Sequoyah County charge of possession of controlled drug; and Patricia Jo Rose, on a Wagoner County possession of controlled drug count.

Vann was set for release in November 2011, and Rose was scheduled for release in March 2012.

What do you think of Sen. McCain's proposal to allow cable TV channels to be sold a la carte (individually, rather than in bundles with a lot of channels no one wants)? Bear in mind some less popular channels could go by the wayside with no bundling support, and that while overall packages should theoretically decrease in cost, individual channels might cost more.

Strongly in favor of a la carte.
Somewhat in favor of a la carte.
