Correction to kudos

Editor, Daily Press:

I would like to make a correction to my congratulations letter to the Tahlequah Firefighters on the success of their annual Fill-the-Boot campaign for Muscular Dystrophy Association. It is not only the Tahlequah Local No. 4099 that collects for MDA year after year, but the Cherokee County firefighters, as well. They were an important part of the new record for collections in Tahlequah of $18,014!

I apologize to the Cherokee County firefighters for my grave error and once again I hope everyone in Tahlequah will acknowledge these heroes and the difference they are making in lives of those with neuromuscular disease.

Please join me in congratulating the firefighters on a job well done.

The use of cell phones while driving is increasingly becoming an issue. What do you think about cell phone use by emergency personnel, like law enforcement officers, EMTs, firemen, etc.?

• If the law allows the common citizen to use cell phones while driving, emergency personnel should be able to also.
• Emergency personnel should be held to a higher standard. Since they are often driving faster than normal, they should not be allowed to use cell phones while driving, even if other citizens can.
• They should be allowed to use them like anyone else, but their host entities (hospitals, fire departments, cities, etc.) should carry extra insurance for this reason.
• Don't know.
