Inhofe's 'sleazy' ads

Editor, Daily Press:

There has been a series of sleazy political ads on TV lately followed by the statement: “I’m Jim Inhofe and I approve this ad.”

These ads represent the worst type of attack ads, filled with half-truths and innuendoes about Andrew Rice, Inhofe’s opponent. They try to strike fear in the viewers and cause them to vote for “Flat-earth Inhofe.”

These are signature Inhofe campaign ads. Every campaign he has run for the Senate has been dirty, with ads full of sleaze and fear. Don’t Oklahoma voters deserve a senator who respects them and their intelligence?

Let’s look at what Inhofe has done for Oklahoma: He has voted against raising the minimum wage, 14 times; he has voted for tax breaks for companies that move their manufacturing overseas; he voted against body armor for our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan; he has voted against veterans’ health care; he has called global warming a political hoax and public relations gimmick; and he has voted for deregulation of financial markets (and we all see what a success that has been).

Inhofe wants another term in the Senate so he can retire with a very large Senate pension (for which you and I pay) to his palatial Virginia estate. He’s been in the Senate, 24 of his 73 years, already. He rarely returns to Oklahoma, except during campaigns, photo-ops or fundraisers.

We need a senator who has some concept of what average people in this state have to deal with on a daily basis.
