Thanks, firefighters!

Editor, Daily Press:

I would like to congratulate the Tahlequah firefighters on the success of their annual Fill-the-Boot campaign for MDA. This year, the collection was Saturday, Sept. 5. They set a new record for collections in Tahlequah and raised $18,014!

The International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) and the Muscular Dystrophy Association have been partners for more than 50 years. The local MDA chapter is deeply grateful to the Tahlequah Firefighters, Local No. 4099, for their tremendous support of our efforts.

I hope everyone in Tahlequah will acknowledge these heroes and the difference they are making in lives of those with neuromuscular disease. As MDA’s largest national sponsor, the IAFF helps us maintain our research and health care programs, including local MDA clinics. Please join me in congratulating the firefighters on a job well done.

Thank you to the citizens of Tahlequah for taking the time to drop your cash and coin into a boot. Your generous donations are helping us get closer to finding cures for muscular dystrophy.
