Summer movies, games entertain

By TRAVINA COLEMAN

If the temperature is a little to hot to go out and play, and you are forced to recluse inside the air conditioning, one of the most popular ways to fight the four walls, is to rent a movie or game.

And there are plenty of great and not-so great options out there.

This summer features most of last autumn’s releases and some are grabbing them up as they come in, or even before that by getting on a waiting list.

Sam McConnell of Reasor’s Video said rentals have been going well.

“This summer it’s been hard to put one movie over another, but “Gran Torino” was a great one,” she said.

Other DVD releases that have been renting well is “Push,” starring Dakotah Fanning.

“People keep coming in and renting it,” she said.

Sandra Percel of Woodall said she comes in and grabs about five movies at a time.

“The kids just drive me nuts during the summer,” she said.

“I just try and keep them busy.”

The movie she’s been instructed (by her children) to get is “Coraline,” but that won’t be released until next week.

“I was told to put it on the list,” she said.

Brian McAffe of Tahlequah said he just watches to see what movies are hardly in as a good indicator of what’s must be worth renting.

“I never watch movies in the theater,” he said.

“It’s cheaper to rent and I can watch them over if they are really good.”

McConnell said some of the most popular movies have been “Knowing,” “Push,” “The Unborn,” “The Haunting in Connecticut,” and “12 Rounds.”

Some of most awaited releases are “Coraline,” “The Watchmen,” and McConnell said she expects the “Fast and the Furious,” to be a big renter.

Tom Matthews at the Game Stop said summer time is great for area gamers.

“The biggest hit so far is the game “NCAA 2010,” Matthews said.

“It’s been going fast here.”

He also mentioned “X-Men Origins,” was a really popular one this week too.

“And you can’t forget ‘Resident Evil 5,’” he said. “Then there is ‘Fight Night Round Four,” and “Fallout 3.”

Matthews said “Red Faction Guerilla,” was another favorite of Tahlequah gamers.
