Two Oaks youth die in crash

TAHLEQUAH DAILY PRESS — Two Oaks youth were pronounced dead at the scene of a car crash on State Highway 82A Saturday morning.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol report, Randall Leon Wickless [sic], 16, and his brother, Wendall Leroy Wickless [sic], 11, both sustained fatal head and internal trunk injuries as a result of the crash.

The pair were transported by Key Funeral Home of Locust Grove to the medical examiner’s office in Tulsa.

Randall was driving his 1999 Ford Escort north on S.H. 82A, at approximately 11:23 a.m., when he failed to negotiate a curve to the left and ran off the right side of the road. He then overcorrected across the roadway in a broadside slide and went off the left side of the road, where the vehicle then struck a tree.

Randall was ejected 5 feet from the vehicle. Neither of the youth were wearing seatbelts.

The crash was investigated by OHP Trooper Steven Meredith of the Cherokee/Adair County Detachment, Trooper Ruben Hernandez of the Delaware County Detachment, the Delaware County sheriff’s office, and the Oaks Fire Department.
