TAHLEQUAH DAILY PRESS — ROLAND– Three Sequoyah County residents and an Oklahoma City man were killed Tuesday in a crash on a county road near Roland.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports alcohol played a role in the crash that claimed the lives of Jerry Lee Walker, 35; Shawna Renee McCoy, 20; Manuel Dos Smith, 26; and Earl Gene Walker, 22. All were pronounced dead at the scene of massive internal and external injuries. None were wearing seat belts.
Reports state Jerry Walker was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer west on a county road when it ran off the north side of the road, overcorrected back onto the roadway veered off on the north side of the road, hitting a tree.
Everyone in the vehicle was pinned for three hours before being extricated by Roland and Muldrow firefighters. Reports state there was an odor of alcohol on the driver, and the cause of the collision was alcohol (impaired driving). The crash was reported at 1:45 a.m. on Slab Hollow Road.
