Oklahoma’s loss is Tulsa’s gain. Or such is the case with Dalton Rodriguez.
The 6-foot-6, 255-pound defensive end from Union High School in Tulsa switched his verbal commitment from OU to Tulsa on Thursday. On Twitter he said: “Just decommited from OU and now im going to TU! It was a decision that was best for me!”
Before Rodriguez announced the news via social media, he said he informed the Oklahoma coaching staff of his decision.
A factor in Rodriguez’s change of heart could have been his relationship with Adam Blankenship, who is now the defensive ends coach at TU. Blankenship coach Rodriguez during his sophomore year at Union.
“We’re pretty close and I’ll know what to expect when I get there,” Rodriguez told the Tulsa World.
Verbal commitments are non-binding. National Signing Day is Feb. 6.
