Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy announced at a golf outing Wednesday that offensive lineman, Michael Bowie, was transferring.
Shortly after Gundy broke the news, a source confirmed Bowie was on campus at Northeastern State University.
"He was on campus today and talked to (NSU head coach) Kenny Evans," the source told the Tahlequah Daily Press. "There was no commitment, though."
Bowie, a former Sand Springs standout, started in five games for the Cowboys last season, and was projected to be Oklahoma State's starting left tackle in 2012. However, Bowie was set to transfer after violating team rules, Gundy said.
"He has expressed interest, and he has sent his release to NSU and UCO (Central Oklahoma)," said Cedrique Flemming, NSU's sports information director. "But the school has no comment beyond that."
A separate source told the Tahlequah Daily Press that Bowie transferring to NSU was about a "90-percent possibility."
At Oklahoma State, Gundy said Devin Davis was likely the leading candidate to replace Bowie at left tackle.
NSU players are slated to report on Tuesday with practices beginning on Wednesday.
