Crawley homers, but Bandits fall at Winget

TAHLEQUAH DAILY PRESS — Springfield Kickapoo scored five runs in the second and six runs in the fourth inning to claim a 16-8 victory over the Oklahoma Bandits on Friday afternoon in Winget Tournament in Bartlesville.

Springfield also recorded two runs in the sixth and two in the seventh.

Oklahoma took the early lead with a run in the bottom of the first inning.

Chase Goodnight hit an RBI sacrifice fly to score Shay Richhart. Richhart had reached base on a leadoff bunt single. He finished the game 2-for-3 with a pair of singles.

Kickapoo took the lead 5-1 in the top of the second when they put up five runs.

The Bandits responded with four runs in the bottom of the third to tie the game at 5-5.

After Richhart reached on a single, Matt Crawley smashed a two-run home run to left-center field. Bo Adams and Derek Spencer added RBIs later in the inning. Adams had an RBI single to score Goodnight and Spencer scored Adams with an RBI double.

Adams finished the game with a team-best three hits.

Oklahoma added two more runs in the fourth inning. Steven Chuculate scored Shane Wesley and Crawley on a two-RBI double.

Both Wesley and Crawley had reached on walks.

The Bandits added their final run in the fifth when Spencer scored Adams on an RBI sacrifice fly. Spencer finished the game with two RBIs.

Crawley started the game for the Bandits and went six and two-thirds innings. He had five strikeouts.

Chuculate pitched the final one-third of an inning for Oklahoma.

The Bandits play Rogers on Saturday before wrapping up play in the Winget Tournament on Sunday.

The next regular season game is on Tuesday when they host Three Rivers. Game time will be 6 p.m. at Phoenix Park.
