Luke Del Rio, a quarterback at Highland Ranch Valor Christian High School in Colorado, rescinded his verbal commitment to Oklahoma State via Twitter on Tuesday.
Despite saying he still has OSU high on his list, Del Rio tweeted: “Officially decommitted from Oklahoma State, opening recruiting back up.”
The change of heart comes a day after OSU offensive coordinator left to become the head coach at Southern Mississippi. Monken was on the Jacksonville Jaguars’ coaching staff when Jack Del Rio — Luke’s father — was the head coach.
According to Luke Del Rio, he has upcoming unofficial visits to Oregon State, Alabama and even said he might “give Southern Mississippi a look.”
